Norrie wants his Lieutenant! I would love, love love for this to go one way, but if you really don't fancy that and want to take it the other way I'm good with that too. ^.^
Basically, I have in mind the sort of forbidden, the-love-that-dare-not-speak-its-name sort of relationship between Norrington and Gillette. Nothing need even come of it; it would just be really interesting to explore a sort of hidden tenderness that they both faintly, vaguely acknowledge in each other but really dare not talk about or anything along those lines. Or, if you prefer, it could go on like that for a while and then they could secretly develop more than a close companionship... up to you! I would love either. I think it'd make for some excellent plotting. :]
However, if you don't want to go that route but still fancy making Gillette, I'd never dream of stopping you! In that case I envision a really close platonic relationship between the pair of them; kind of like brothers, but in such a way that they pretend they're really serious and standoffish like men of this era are supposed to be and then get blind drunk together in Norrington's quarters and bitch about Beckett. Or that kind of thing. O:]
