Finally the sun was setting. It was just about eight o'clock in the evening now. It was growing dark. Elizabeth and had Will by the hand running up the side of the cliff. Hurrying as fast as their feet could take them. Running, practically sprinting just to get to the top in time. At the top both of the looked out upon the still waters. Just just as the sun came to the edge of the horizon a green light flashed across the sea with a loud crack! The Flying Dutchman appeared. Looking as withered and creepy as ever. A smile came to Elizabeth's face. She gazed as the ship rocked back and forth. Following a wake it happened to crash upon. Her hair blew in the wind as the smell of salt water filled the air. She could hear the water crashing on the rocks with every wave that rolled in. William, her love was home once more. The butterflies instantly started to flutter inside of her stomach as her excitement grew more and more intense. It was almost to the point where she couldn't bare it.
As she stared to the horizon she could see the face of her beloved. Grinning from ear to ear, just as she. Her heart instantly beat faster. Giddy as a school girl, she was. Looking down she fixed her skirt and readied her blouse. All the while fixing her shabby hair which was now falling into her face as the wind gusts picked up and blew stronger. Elizabeth was so happy. He was coming home. He was home. She could see him. After so long! He was finally there. Right in her eye sight. How much happier could a girl get. The knots in her stomach tightened as the ship grew closer and closer to the shore. Will at the helm and his crew running rampant around the deck. Elizabeth took a step forward and grabbed the shoulder of her son. This was it. The one thing she had been waiting for for the last ten years!
Elizabeth suddenly got the feeling as if she was falling. But not exactly falling. Just the feeling. As she jumped to catch herself she jolted around. Blankets and pillows going everywhere. She sat up quickly and looked around the room. The sun shinning through the window. Birds chirping. The sounds of her sons feet running around. Elizabeth sighed. It was all just a dream. Slowly she pushed her covers off and planted her feet down on the cool wooden surface. It was so vivid, the dream, that it felt like it was actually happening all over again. It made sense. Elizabeth missed Will so much that she dreamt about him almost all the time. Every night when her head would hit the pillow it was like a switch was turned on and her mind was instantly flooded with her love.
Putting on the final touches to her outfit she pulled her shawl from the chair just before the door and wrapped it around her shoulders. Pulling open the door she stepped out and let the light of the sun flood over her. Heating her skin almost instantly. The smell of salt in the air perfumed around her. Well that's why her smell was also so potent in the dreams. So much for sleeping with the window to her bedroom open. Glancing around she noticed busy people going every which way. Traveling with carts, children and large heavy loads upon their arms. There was also a lot of shouting and noise. This was normal. This was home. Elizabeth smiled to a few passersby and continued on her way. Roaming the cobblestone streets of Port Royal.
