It seemed like once every year, the sinners and drunkards of the pirate city, Tortuga, came together one day out of the entire year, attempting to sell and profit from what little valuables they had in their possession and to their names. The vendor with the most popular trinkets and misplaced items obviously won out at the end of the day, while making sure no one snatch his or her lute. So, throughout the day, many ships came and went from the bay, picking up nick-knacks and such, all hoping that someone on the pirate island would have something truly valuable to make off with at the end of their plundering.
The weather outside humid, just like nearly every other day in the Caribbean. With little to no clouds in the sky, the rays of the hot sun beat down upon those wandering about the bazaar that was set up alongside the town's waterfront. The crystal, clear waters of the tropical region rolled softly over each other in small waves, gently lapping upon the white sand of the beach. Besides taking a casual dip in the salt water, the only other comfort nature provided against the sun was a slight breeze which was just strong enough to rustle to palms leaves of the palm trees that lined the beach as well. The sound of sea fearing birds were heard from above as the perched on rooftops, looking to catch a meal of crumbs somewhere before the rats got to them first.
Setting a few tortoise shell combs out on the booth before her, Annelise sat back and played with her hair while she waited for someone to take interest in her inventory once more. Calling the second island over from Tortuga home, it didn't take long for the young woman to hear word about the melding of sorts the island had. After she had decided to take some of her personal belongings over to try her hand at the bartering game, Annelise was hooked at the end of the day when all her items had been either bartered for or bought, leaving the brunette with something more than just fancy combs in her pocket.
People watching, as she so often did, Annelise was glad that the spot in which she had claimed for the day was positioned in the high end of the street, leaving her with a clear view of the bay and the ships that came in. Picking up a piece of bread, Annelise took a modest bite before letting out a sigh. She was almost ready to lock up for a moment and steal another dip into the refreshing ocean when green eyes spotted a rather unfamiliar ship come into the bay. Curiosity filling her state of being, the brunette of neutral party watched the vessel. Annelise wondered who was aboard the ship
