PERSONALITY
Jack Sparrow is a man you will never forget upon meeting him. The first characteristic that many notice is his walk which resembles a drunken stagger and his seemingly wild hand gestures. Some think Jack is crazy and some attribute his eccentricity to common afflictions that plague pirates such as heat stroke, etc. However, Jack can be quite serious when the situation calls for it. He simply believes that taking life too seriously is detrimental to one’s health.
Jack prefers to rely on his wit, charm, and ingenuity to talk himself out of a situation rather than fighting. Though he is certainly better equipped to barter than use physical strength, he is agile and experience and therefore is a fearsome opponent in any duel. He is overall a good person and abides by his own moral code strictly. He never goes back on his word and is generally very altruistic, though he will deceive to get his way. He has been known to put others in a small amount of harm to get what he wants, but will usually have a larger plan in place to get them out of trouble. His most noteworthy trait, and what makes him immune to the Siren’s Call, is that his deepest desire is simply freedom.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE;
Jack wouldn’t be a striking man if it weren’t for his personality and charisma. He stands at an average height and slightly below average weight. His eyes are dull brown, but they sparkle with a zest for life that is unique to him and are lined with kohl to keep the sun from blinding him. Similarly, his hair is a dark brown that isn’t uncommon but it is styled in braids and dreads with a few bobbles, beads, and coins woven in and topped off with a faded red bandanna that he is almost never seen without. He further individualizes his image by keeping his facial hair trimmed to a mustache and goatee which is separated into two tiny braids, each with a bead to end them.
Jack takes great care of his effects since he has had to go to great lengths to acquire them and has known a lot of loss in his life. By far his two greatest possessions are his magic compass and his hat. Of course, he won’t go anywhere without his pistol or sword but those are more out of a need to survive than any personal sentiment. He has gained several rings throughout his life, most of which he wears constantly. The rest of his normal outfit consists of a regular pair of pirate boots, black pants, light overcoat, and a white billowy shirt.
HEIGHT; 5’ 9”
WEIGHT; 165
HAIR COLOR; Dark brown

ANY SPECIAL MARKINGS; A few scars from swords and burns here and there and a ‘P’ brand on his right forearm. Tattoos cover most of his body, including: a sparrow and sea tattoo on his right forearm, tribal designs on his right bicep, and an extensive back tattoo of a 15th century poem called the 'Desiderata'.

BACKGROUND;
Jack was born onboard a ship stuck in the middle of a typhoon of the coast of India and grew up in a whirlwind house at Shipwreck Cove. As a child, he had a bit of resentment toward his father, Captain Teague, though his greatest wish has always been to follow in his footsteps as a great captain. When Jack finally grew tired of his sedentary life, he ran away to Tortuga and immediately fell into a life of adventure. As a young pirate with a similarly young crew by his side Jack found the sword of Cortes, forged a friendship with Tia Dalma, solved a theft for which he was accused in New Orleans, met Davy Jones, gets betrayed by his first mate and saves his father, captains several more ships. When he was finished adventuring as a teenager, Jack returned to Shipwreck Cove and was finally recognized by the Pirate Lords. He travelled around with his father, but eventually broke the Pirate Code to save a friend which resulted in a very short stint on land. He became a merchant and at twenty-five, was employed by the East India Trading Company. He had a successful run until he was told to transport slaves; when he freed them, he was branded as a pirate and thrown into prison. When he was being transported to his execution, he fell overboard and as he was drowning struck a deal with Davy Jones. In exchange for his soul, he would get thirteen years as captain of his ship which he named ‘The Black Pearl’.
Many of his exploits are rumored and none are sure if they are true including the tale of how he sacked Nassau Port without firing a single shot. It is known, however, that he has impersonated an officer of the Spanish Royal Navy and a cleric of the Church of England. He became chief of the Pelegostos and had a relationship with Blackbeard’s daughter, became a Pirate Lord, and caused Jolly Roger to become a leader of the undead legion because of a poker game. Because of his benevolent attitude, Jack’s crew on the Black Pearl, lead by Barbossa, soon mutinied and left him stranded on an island with only a pistol with a single shot. Luckily, rumrunners were using the island and he was able to barter his passage off after spending several very drunk days with them. Because he was penniless and had nothing to his name, he spent several years pilfering and exchanging ship for ship, waiting for his chance to win back the Pearl. During this time, he used his ship and crew to systematically destroy one ship after another that Barbossa owned. His search led him to Port Royal in search of a new ship as his current dingy was badly damaged.
While there, he managed to save Elizabeth Swann by chance, get into a duel with Will Turner, get arrested and eventually saved by Will, and the two stole a ship; they ventured to Tortuga to assemble a crew and set off to capture the Pearl. After winning it back, he realized that Davy Jones would soon be coming after him. He attempted to trick Will and Elizabeth into helping him find the Dead Man’s Chest which resulted in Jack dying, Will and Elizabeth coming to Davy Jones’ Locker to save him, and eventually a battle between all the Pirate Lords and Davy Jones’ army, including the East India Trading Company who struck a deal with him. During this battle, Jack forces a dying Will to stab Davy Jones’ heart so his friend won’t die and he will be free of his bargain. Finally reunited with his ship again, Jack set off to find the Fountain of Youth. He ventured to Florida, but after a long search wasn’t able to find it; he couldn’t look long because of a pressing need to outrun Blackbeard after sinking his ship. Now, he is in hiding, using the vastness of the ocean to effectively disappear.

ROLE PLAY EXAMPLE;
Heath had underestimated just how intimidating it would be to sit in front of Maurice Parker in anticipation of asking for his help. He hadn’t ever really been in the habit of asking for help from anyone, much less people just like his parents—the stuck up, wealthy, entitled pureblood. But then again, perhaps that would endear his boss to the cause; one pureblood to another. Of course, it wasn’t promising that he took the report without a word. Heath hadn’t expected much, but it would have been nice for a ‘thank you’ or something at least. His sharp question didn’t give much of an ego boost either, it only served to send a light flush across his cheeks, but Heath really couldn’t blame him. He knew Parker was busy and he knew he would be wasting his time if he couldn’t convince him but really, there was nothing else he could do. With that thought, he had a sudden burst of inspiration that he couldn’t possibly say where it came from. Maybe it was his natural adrenaline rushing through him or maybe he knew it wouldn’t work if he couldn’t get Parker out of his dismal office and somewhere more casual. As far as he knew, Parker didn’t even go out let alone with his subordinates and probably certainly not with ones twenty years his junior. He took a quick second to let his mind race through the possibility and the probably outcomes of asking one Maurice Parker out for drinks. Could it hurt? Judging by the impatient and almost irritated look on his face, Heath thought it probably could. He decided to pitch his proposal first, give him the detail and then ask him out. Well, not ask him out; Christ, never that.
“Well, sir, I’m sure you’re aware that over the years there have been several uprisings of Dark Wizards wanting to be the next master of all…” he shifted uncomfortably in his chair, not even able to think about the tons of witches and wizards who had been sacrificed needlessly for one man’s selfish endeavors. “And you know that it is the Ministry’s job, ours especially, to stop these uprisings and put their leaders to justice. I have recently learned that there is a young man who, I believe, is trying to do just that.” Heath sat up straighter, wanting to get his point across very clearly. “I’m not sure when it started, but it certainly escalated with the murder of my sister. I know it wouldn’t hold up in the Wizengamot, they would only say I was emotionally compromised, but I watched him murder her.” His voice hitched slightly and another flush burned across his cheeks. “Forgive me, it’s not…not easy to talk about. But you must know that we can’t allow this threat to continue. Even putting aside beliefs about blood status, it would be a menace and an affront to everything we stand for to let this child go around murdering innocent people!”
He sat back a bit, trying to calm his suddenly beating heart. He knew he probably looked crazed, eyes shining brightly and a note of barely concealed panic and urgency in his voice. “I’m…I’m sorry, it’s just a lot for me. I’ve started an opposition group and it’s growing fairly quickly, but I want you to be a part of it. I know that you could bring your wisdom and skills and help us defeat this bastard.” He hadn’t taken his eyes of Parker the whole time, but he really looked at him now. He wanted to study his reaction and judge where his plea was getting him. If he had to guess, he would imagine that Parker only thought of him as some emotional halfwit child who wouldn’t know how to negotiate if an instructional booklet bit him on the arse. That wasn’t true, of course, negotiations were an integral part of the Hit Wizard occupation, but he supposed that was different. When he was on the job, he was playing a character and he knew exactly what to say to get someone to cave to his will, but now…he didn’t want to manipulate Parker, really, that had never been his style. He wanted Parker to want to help him of his own free will. Not that blubbering all over him was going to accomplish that, though, so he needed to get his shit together before he lost it.
