BEHIND THE QUOTES
NAME; Forest (Or Forry, Forrykins, anything relating to forests, I suppose.) *Please note that I am, in fact, female. I am aware that the name Forest is a boy’s name, but I’m referring to the large areas of trees, not the name. Just to clear that up. There’s been confusion in the past. xD*
AGE; Sixteen years of age.
ROLE PLAY EXPERIENCE; About five years, especially more recently.
HOW'D YOU FIND US; Through an ad on Dark Times Lie Ahead, a Harry Potter site.
MEANS OF CONTACT; PM please, possibly YIM or email, but PM first por favor.
OTHER COMMENTS; Your site is very beautiful, and I’m very excited to get into role playing here!
IN THIS SKIN
FULL NAME; Isolde Fortuna. The other mermaids called her Isolde, and she took the name Fortuna off a ship, liking the sound of the word enough to keep it as a last name of sorts.
ALIAS; Isolde likes going by her first name, but Isola and Isa are her main nicknames. She is also sometimes called Fortuna.
GENDER; Isolde is, most definitely, female, like all mermaids.
BIRTH DATE / AGE; Isolde’s exact age is unknown, as is her date of birth, though she appears to be in her twenties.
ALLIANCE; Isolde does not yet have a preference. She isn’t a huge fan of either side, but is more likely to lean towards the pirates when it comes down to it.
POSITION AND RANK; Isolde has never actually worked on a ship, but, if put to a task, will work quickly, efficiently, and hard.
SHIP; Isolde is definitely not a captain.
PERSONALITY
Isolde is not a feral mermaid, though she is wary of humans. She knows that many will try to capture her and sell her tail, create jewelry with her scales, or bottle her tears. The market is good for such items, as they are hard to come across and very difficult to obtain. For this reason, she will, at first, try to keep herself at a distance and may even shy away from the approach of a human.
Her curiosity, however, is unending and will frequently overtake her, causing her to want to learn from the beings around her. She will seize the opportunity to observe humans up close, thirsting for the experience after her years of long-distance viewing. In these times, she will become quite a bit more talkative, asking carefully-worded questions and requesting to be shown how to do such-and-such duty. She especially will want to learn how to use a sword, even make one if possible.
Isolde’s mind wanders often, and she can be found daydreaming, staring out over the waves and humming strangely beautiful melodies taught to her by her sisters. She loves to think up adventures involving the world around her, and wishes more than anything that they will come true. She isn’t very aware of her surroundings when she’s immersed in her imaginings, so one could easily startle her, which will cause her to become defensive. She’s never told anyone of the things she dreams up.
Isolde is very careful about whom she trusts, but, once she trusts you, she is unwaveringly loyal. The trick is gaining her trust. She may not admit that you have her trust, either, and grudgingly hold back.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE;
Isolde is beautiful, as mermaids are. She has long, flowing chocolate locks that reach down her back. Her eyes are sea green, and often full of curiosity. She has soft, smooth, unblemished skin. She smiles frequently enough, a beautiful smile that never fails to reach her eyes. She stands around average height, 5’6”, and is fairly slim.
When she was a mermaid, her tail was covered in shimmering blue scales, some of which can still be seen on her right thigh. She tries her best to keep the scales hidden, not wanting people to know about her past unless they can help her return to the sea.
HEIGHT; Isolde stands 5 feet 6 inches tall.
WEIGHT; Isolde weighs around 120 pounds.
HAIR COLOR; Isolde’s hair is a deep, chocolate brown, sometimes becoming a bit bleached by the sun. It rolls over her shoulders in lovely, soft waves, it’s length reaching the center of her back.
EYE COLOR; Isolde’s eyes are light green in color, sometimes called “sea green.” (Which seems rather fitting, does it not?)
ANY SPECIAL MARKINGS; Isolde still has a small patch of scales on her right thigh, a place where her curse did not strike. She hides it as best she can, afraid of consequences that may arise from its discovery.
WHAT'S YOUR STORY, SAILOR
FAMILY;
Isolde knows no family other than her sisters, the mermaids she lived with. She is not exactly sure who her father is, nor is she entirely sure about the identity of her mother. She feels no desire to find out, and is quite content not knowing.
BACKGROUND;
Isolde came into existence in Whitecap Bay many years ago. She knows nothing of her birth or parents, and feels no desire to learn. She grew up knowing only what the other mermaids, her sisters, taught her, which was violence and a hunger. However, Isolde differed from them. She didn’t frequently lose herself in her hunger, and she developed a fascination with ships and humans. She still feasted on them, as was her nature, but she did so out of necessity rather than desire. Her sisters found this funny, and would often laugh at her for it, but she didn’t take that to heart. She loved to sit on rocks just below the surface, head out of the water, and watch ships and sailors passed by.
The years passed, and she continued to watch the life of sailors and sea men pass by, observing with curiosity their daily activities. She killed, like her sisters, until, one day, her sisters spotted a ship upon the horizon. Hungry, they approached it, and, as usual, they lured the men into the water and began to drown them. Isolde did the same…until she came upon a young, frightened sailor, not fifteen years old, who she could not kill. She thought of the life he had before him, and released him. When her sisters discovered that she had allowed one of the sailors to live, she was removed from the clan and sent away to the open ocean.
Isolde wandered for quite some time, unaware of exactly how long it was. She no longer felt the desire to kill, to feast on the flesh of unlucky souls, but her hunger soon overcame her, and she lost control of herself. She found a small boat drifting in semi-shallow waters, attracted to its manmade light and the singing of a single male voice. Approaching the small fishing boat, Isolde joined in the young sailor’s song. He allowed her to lure him into the water, and her hunger overcame her. She instantly began to feast, not even allowing him the time to drown before her teeth sunk into his flesh. He screamed, a sound that still echoes in her ears, her nightmares. Moments later, another scream joined the sailor’s, the sound of his mother’s voice. She shouted a curse to the skies, a curse which would slowly overcome Isolde, coming to full effect not a week later and trapping her in human form. She now floats upon the sea, a mermaid at heart, but a human in form.

Millicent loved to run. She loved the wind as it tried to free her dark locks from the carefully woven braid that slapped against her back, and the sound of her feet pounding the ground beneath her. Morning was the best time for a serious run, before the sun had risen fully, and the chilled air caressed her skin, preventing her from getting entirely over-heated. Arms pumping at her sides, Millicent focused on the combined rhythms of her breathing and feet against the earth, focusing hard on what she was doing and allowing all other thoughts to leave her head. She had chosen a different path that morning; rather than heading deep into the woods, she had decided not to venture too deep into the trees, and head in the direction of the lake. She wanted to push herself as hard as she could today, and her new route was calculated to be longer by a short distance, a challenge. She intended to reach the end, no matter what—so far, so good.[/center]
Emerging from the forest, Milly skirted the lake, adding the water lapping against the shore to the rhythm of her run, catching her attention as she continued on her way. The lake had never been her favorite location on campus as it was for many of the other students. She preferred the danger the forest posed, though she also loved the astronomy tower, especially during thunder storms. The raw power of the skies fascinated her, and she loved to sit in the drafty tower during the show of might, observing as the rain pounded the stone roof and thunder shook the castle. She loved the excitement a good storm brought, and found the lake too tame, despite the creatures that lurked beneath the surface. She had heard the stories of the merpeople, grindylows, and Giant Squid, but was unable to view them from the surface, which caused her interests to turn to other locations.
Now, as she neared her planned stopping point, a sharp pain in her left side caused her focus to be broken, and she sucked in an extra breath, breaking her breathing rhythm. “Shit,” she huffed on her next outward breath, allowing her left hand to settle on her side for a moment, massaging the muscles there. She had stretched before she began her run, was the extra distance really that bad? No, it wasn’t, and neither was this stitch in her side. She would make it to her ending point, pain or no. Pressing the pain from her mind, she focused on her movements, eyes locked on the tree she had chosen as her destination.
Twenty more steps…ten…five…Millicent reached out her hand to touch the tree and smirked. She had made it, just as she had planned. Tomorrow, she’d do the same run and this stupid pain would not be there. She raised her hand to her side again and pressed her fingers into the muscle, moving them in small circles to try to ease the pain. For a moment, she stood there, massaging her side and focusing on slowing her breathing to the normal speed. The pain in her side wasn’t letting up, so, rolling her eyes, Millicent bent over to stretch out her side, touching the grass lightly with her fingers.
That’s when the voice came. “Why can’t all mornings be like this?” Millicent straightened again, taking a deep breath in. She hadn’t been aware that anyone was around, and the optimistic sentence made her roll her eyes a second time. “If all mornings were like this, sunny and disgustingly pleasant, you’d live in a cartoon. Sorry to burst your bubble, sweetie, but this is real life.” Her accent was German, and her voice held an false sweetness that she knew made younger students cringe. As she rounded the tree, she expected to see someone younger than her, but, instead, was faced with the opposite; a seventh year Hufflepuff, if she remembered correctly. She was a prefect; that much Milly remembered perfectly. She didn’t know much about the girl other than this, and it was enough for the Slytherin girl. “Oh, wow. You. I expected some first year who thought they’d stepped into a Disney movie.” So many of the first years got the crazy idea that the world of Hogwarts was cheerful and pleasant all the time; maybe it was because muggles saw magic as this fantastic thing that only appeared in their fairy tales. After all, the school was an enchanted castle, surrounded by a magical forest, where a myriad of magical creatures—including centaurs and giants, which appeared in various muggle tales—lived freely. Well Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was no quaint cottage in the woods filled with dwarves, and it was better that they learn this reality early on rather than seeing the school through their silly rose-colored glasses.
