What does everything happened between Philip and Syrena at the end of the movie? It's really bothering me that the filmmakers chose to leave it open-ended because I really want to know what happened!
The options are that she didn't really love him and just ate him, but that is rather unpleasant, haha. I think she took him down to the bottom of the ocean and healed him. I wonder if he turned into a merman, or if she lived with him on land, or what.
Does anyone know if there will be more movies and if this will be addressed?

There has to be more movies. You can't leave dear sweet Phillip at the bottom of the ocean, Angelica on an island alone, and that other guy somewhere else. (lol I think there was one more person who was a loose end, but I cannot remember who it was...Weekend plan: watch this movie again. Haha.) I'm fairly certain Syrena healed him. Though I won't deny that I also explored the idea of her faking her love then eating him. Hmm...I'm not sure whether he'll turn into a merman or not. It's veeeeery possible. *taps chin* Oooh, I can't wait to see!

If you see the movie more than once, when you get to the point where the pirates are luring the mermaids into the longboats, you notice the really big WINK they throw at the audience. IE, when they give a long explanation about how since there are a lack of a male gender within the mermaid population, that whatever sailors are lured are brought to the bottom, fucked, and then eaten.
So, if we can assume that Syrena is somehow in love with Philip (after knowing him for like a week) then he is probably alive and has a mermaid baby on the way. If not, and seeing as this is the most likely occurrence if the writers want to keep any sort of credibility, then Philip is dead and Syrena is carrying their spawn.
It'll probably end up being the former. It was kind of an obvious pull on the writer's part. Their roles, as inconsequential as they are, will come back again in the next movie. XD
